Victorian hot water exchange - Commercial and industrial heat pump water heater activity
Activity 44 of the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is a commercial and industrial heat pump water heater activity. It incentivises the installation of air source heat pump water heaters by providing rebates to businesses that upgrade from gas or electric resistance water heaters.
A heat pump hot water system works by transferring heat from the surrounding air to water, using a refrigeration cycle. This is similar to how an air conditioner works in reverse, but instead of heating or cooling air, it heats water. Instead of using electricity to directly heat the water, it uses the energy to run the heat pump, making it more energy-efficient.
